Cosmetic Dentistry

When we smile, others respond, for better or worse. Whether we like it or not, aesthetics do motivate how others see us and judge us. People unsure of their smiles often are less sure of themselves. Cosmetic Dentistry can help you regain an aesthetic advantage. With reconstructive and cosmetic techniques, we've turned smiles worn by nature or simple neglect into winners. We can close gaps, smooth chips, and lighten faded teeth. We can change shape (lengthen front teeth with veneers, for example, to compensate for a low lip line) or round edges with bonding to acheive a younger aspect. Why cosmetic dentistry? For an appearanace of vitality that says "I really care about myself, health, my job, my life." It shows.

. Laminates
(view before/after)

Description: Patient presents with upper two central incisors overlapped and protruding. Patient requested an immediate and quick change which eliminated orthodontics as options. Teeth were treated with 2 porcelain lamintes to better align and round out the arch. His smile was much improved after treatment.

. Cosmetic with Composite
(view before/after)

Description: This female patient presented us with worn down teeth from toothbrushing aggressively. Treatment consisted of placing tooth colored composite over the defects. The result was brighter teeth that was better protected from further damage and a a younger smile.

. Upper Laminates
(view before/after)

Description: These pictures are of 25 year old woman with several deteriorating plastic fillings and several spaces around the upper front teeth. She wanted a younger brighter smile with more even teeth and did not want orthodontics(braces). The solution was porcelain laminates on the upper anterior teeth to replace existing failing plastic fillings, change the shade to a brighter and younger look, and provide instant orthodontics by closing the spaces and evening out the smile. The result: she was very very happy.

Restorative Dentistry

Preventive dentistry is the heart of our practice. Our staff will see you at regular customized intervals to help you to stay healthy. Restorative dentistry may not be where we start with our new patients, but it's where we like to "finish". Restorative dentistry is basic repair of the mouth. We mend broken or leaking fillings, build crowns and bridges, fit partials and full dentures, realign your bite, place implants, bring back marginal teeth with endodontic therapy, and so on. Our goal is to help you keep every tooth you can and preserve the integrity of your mouth and your well being.

. Composite Resin Fillings
(view before/after)

Description:Currently there are many circles that advocate the use of composite restorations over silver fillings. European dentists have been using them exclusively for years. This patient represents upgrading to composite fillings from decayed broken down silver fillings. The result is a well restored tooth with superior aesthetics which are free of mercury contamination.

. Inlay
(view before/after)

Description: This female patient presented us with two old restorations on her lower biscuspids. Treatment included replacing the missing tooth structure with porcelain restorations called inlays. The result was elimination of decay and missing tooth structure, strengthening the teeth through bonding with the porcelain, and improved chewing capacity.

. Implants
(view before/after)

Description: When a natural tooth is lost, it should be replaced. One of the ways to accomplish that is by using an implant. This involved placing an implant fixture into the gums. The top part of the implant (blue post) is then used to support a crown which fits precisely over it. The finished product looks like any other tooth. It also feels and function as a natural tooth.

Soft Tissue Management

Recent ADA guidelines mandate that we do a thorough periodontal evaluation for all patients. With the improved training and research available to our entire team, we're finding that we, in many cases, catch periodontal problems earlier and control them, as well as avoid bone loss and more extensive treatment. Home care plays a very important role in the successfulness of the program. The program includes a Braun electric toothbrush. Patients will be educated in personal home care.

Nonsurgical Procedures

New and exciting treatment to control gum disease at specific active sites have also been developed. Atridox, antibiotic gel, can be delivered non-surgically into periodontal pockets to control disease activity. Another site specific treatment is the Perio Chip, a small dissolvable gelatin chip that is painlessly placed into the periodontal pocket. This chip slowly releases a bacteria-fighting antiseptic over a 10 day period.
